It was fitting that our final Principal's Lunch was on Principals' Day yesterday. While the faculty and staff left little surprises for Mr. Killpack, the students got to see him participate in two super fun assemblies. During the science assembly he was sandwiched between two beds of nails and had a cinder block broken over him; then at the Reading Ninja assembly he got to break a board using his ninja skills. We are thankful to have such a fun, kind, and supportive principal at Highland.

Yesterday was National School Lunch Superheroes day. Our very own Cafeteria Squad are amazing! The kids love seeing them everyday for lunches made with love.

Thank you to our PTA in our own reading sensei Mrs. Bee for putting on a great final reading ninjas assembly for our lower grades. Students really loved watching the karate students and Mrs. Stevenson and Mr. Killpack break some boards.

We had so much fun this morning with the Oak Canyon Science Demo Team. Students got to see so many parts of science experiments in action. You'll have to ask your students about their favorite part and especially about Mr. Killpack laying on a bed of nails.

Tomorrow is a special Spirit Day - it's also Principal's Day. Support our school and show off your school pride for Mr. Killpack. Wear your favorite Highland shirt.

The Highland City Library Book Drive ends this Friday. Please gather any books you'd like to donate and drop them off in the main school vestibule near the office.

Congratulations to Mrs. Christley and Mr. Killpack on their RISE Recognitions today. We appreciate the parents who notice the great things our teachers and staff are doing and in submitting these nominees to the district. We are lucky to have such amazing adults who care about the students here at Highland.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is next week (May 4-8) and we invite parents/students to help celebrate the amazing teachers and staff at Highland.

They have also come up with ways that students can participate each day. Check out the flyer for more details.

Last week, Mrs. Lewis' class celebrated Tax Day by learning about taxes and practicing this life skill.
Here the students had to figure out how much they had to pay in taxes; it was an eye opener and even a little painful for some. What a fun way to learn about money and taxes.
